A total of 127 scientists from 28 German universities are applying for the Aventis Foundation’s “Life Sciences Bridge Award” this year – for the first time more women (68) than men (59).
They submitted their documents by the deadline between March 1 and April 30. There were 116 applications last year. In 2022, 87 applications were received. Most of the applications this year came from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.
This year’s laureates will be presented and honored at the Literaturhaus in Frankfurt am Main on September 27, 2024. The Aventis Foundation has been bundling its commitment to promoting science in the “Life Sciences Bridge Award” since 2019. Its aim is to strengthen cutting-edge university research in Germany by encouraging particularly talented scientists to pursue an academic career despite uncertain future prospects. Of the 14 awardwinners to date, ten have already achieved the funding goal of a permanent professorship.
